2012 – Table for Villa Anička
For several years, I had been working for a client who had high individual demands for design and execution. His villa, which he bought and renovated, reflected the spirit of the 1930s and Art Deco elements. In one room, we were creating something like a “gentleman’s club” – a seating area, library, cards, cigars, simply relaxation. As a dominant feature, I wanted a round table with a central leg. I’ve had its design in my head for many years, and about thirty years ago, I made one from pine for my own home.
The design was inspired by the pre-war era: a thick top with a profiled edge, a veneer assembly with a central point for the leg base wrapped in polished sheet metal. The table is balanced so that you can lean on it without spilling your drink.
The manufacturing was undertaken by my classmate from technical school – the company Koželuha – CZECH CARPENTER, Plzeň.
One of the most beautiful projects in my life – challenging custom pieces, a generous client, maximum trust. Thanks for this opportunity.
